New Jersey Has Three of the 10 Safest Towns in America

Every now and then a state surprises me. New Jersey really did when I read that 3 of the top 10 safest towns in the US are in the Garden State.

MONROE TOWNSHIP

Northeast of Trenton, NJ, Monroe has a population of around 49,000. Median home income is $107,500.

Monroe Township is in Middlesex County and is one of the best places to live in New Jersey. Living in Monroe Township offers residents a sparse suburban feel and most residents own their homes. Many retirees live in Monroe Township and residents tend to have moderate political views.

Crime rate annually is 112 crimes, 5 violent crimes. That works out to 2.31 crimes per 1000 residents and 0.10 violent crimes per 1000 residents.

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP

Hillsborough Township is north of Princeton. Population is 43,000. Median family income is $153,000.

Per 1000 people, the town has 0.2 violent crimes and 3 property crimes annually.

WESTFIELD

Westfield is southwest of Newark. Population 31,000. Median home income is $189,000.

It has 0 violent crimes per 1000 residents and other crimes rate is 8 per 1000 residents.

When I think of New Jersey, I think of the Boardwalk or Newark, but I am pleased to see it has kept pockets of comfort and safety.

Job well done, Garden State!
